Nezpique Shave Soap

Nezpique: The seed for Nezpique was planted during conversations with our friend Tobin Fetters and a shared appreciation for the outdoors. The idea was to incorporate some local water florals into an aquatic or bottomland woody scent profile. I wanted to capture the kind of South Louisiana atmosphere that is hard to put into words, almost a “you had to be there” scent. With Nezpique, this is my attempt to take you on that long boat ride down the bayou with me: the cool air before sunrise, black bayou water, cypress, moss, and that quiet stillness of the outdoors before the day starts.

Pronounced “Neh-PEE-kay,” it takes its name from Bayou Nezpique in southwestern Louisiana, a place tied closely to rice farming, crawfish ponds, fishing camps, duck hunting, and Cajun life.

The fragrance opens fresh and cool with bergamot, mandarin, neroli, violet leaf, and black currant, touched with pink pepper and cardamom. From there it moves into blue lotus, cypress, palo santo, and green woods, giving it the character of shaded water and wet timber rather than a bright coastal aquatic.

The drydown brings cedarwood, patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, ambergris, wet earth, and clean musk, adding depth without losing the freshness that runs through the fragrance.

Nezpique is what we call a Bayou Aquatic. It is not salty, tropical, or beachy. It is darker, greener, and more natural—built around the smell and feel of South Louisiana backwater.

The scent was inspired by mornings spent on the water with my boys—running trout lines, duck hunting, and making memories before sunrise. The artwork came from an old photograph of my oldest son and nephew, two of my favorite hunting and fishing partners.

Handcrafted in Louisiana using our Brangus 2.1 Luxury Tallow Base, Nezpique produces a dense, protective lather with excellent cushion, slickness, glide, and post-shave feel.
