Deeply tied to rice farming, crawfish ponds, fishing camps, duck hunting, and Cajun outdoor culture, the bayou winds through black water, cypress trees, marsh grass, and heavy morning fog that define this part of Louisiana.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-end=\"1493\" data-start=\"1278\"\u003eThe name traces back to the Atakapa-Ishak people who once lived along the bayou.
